Many organisations see the introduction of
a quality management system as a major step forward in controlling and
improving their key processes. Other simply react to customer
demands that their suppliers should have suitable systems.
A Quality Management System (QMS) enables an organisation
to achieve the goals and objectives set out in its policy and strategy. It
provides consistency and satisfaction in terms of methods, materials and
equipment. It should interact with all activities of the organisation at every transaction interface,
beginning with the identification of customer requirements and ending with
their satisfaction.
A QMS is very simply a method of ensuring that businesses
have an audited, coherent system. This means that they understand their customers
requirements (stated & expected, etc) and produce
products and services which meet those requirements in an ever improving
way.
An organisation will benefit from establishing an
effective quality management system. The cornerstone of a successful
organisation is the concept of the customer and supplier working together
for their mutual benefit. |
